Reading Stars Readers Theater Volunteers Needed (Summer 2024)

Children's Literacy Network is looking for motivated and enthusiastic volunteer to assist with our summer Reading Stars Readers Theater program in Ypsilanti. The program will run June 17-Aug 1 for four days a week from 9:00-12:00. (No programs running during the week of July 4th).

Readers Theater is a learning strategy that connects performance with reading practice. Students perform by reading scripts in a theater-like performance. Volunteers will provide support to elementary students throughout the process of creating and preparing a theatrical performance for their family and friends, including learning the fundamentals of theater, developing scripts, costumes, and scenery, and acting skills.

Volunteers must be 16 years old or older. Previous theatrical or performing arts experience is preferred, but not necessary. Previous experience working with children is preferred. This is an onsite volunteering experience, and all volunteers must be available during the times listed above Monday-Thursday.
