Delivery Drivers - Cancer Nutrition Assistance (Across Eastern Maine)

The Christine B. Foundation is a Bangor-based service-providing nonprofit, striving to build a community of support for those affected by cancer.

The Cancer Nutrition Assistance program through CBF offers equitable access to grocery packages for patients with cancer, recent survivors, and their families.This program has supported 1300 Mainers across 250 towns thanks to hundreds of volunteers. This impact is equivalent to over 300,000 meals being delivered directly to patients with cancer.

Thanks to 100+ volunteers working in various parts of this effort, CBF remains to keep this service at no cost to recipients.

Delivery Drivers:

The CBF is looking for volunteer delivery drivers to help withmaking home deliveries ofCBF Grocery Packagesto homes in Piscataquis, Penobscot, and Hancock County.

Eachpackage isbuiltto the unique preferences of the patient with cancer/their family.Grocery package(s) areassembled at the Bangor siteand dropped off at the designated home.

Volunteer Role:

CBF is looking for volunteers with strong interpersonal and active listening skills, the ability to follow HIPAA guidelines and privacy policies, and demonstrates professionalism. This volunteer position is a patient-facing role, that requires reliable transportation.

CBF's distribution & pick-up site is in Bangor. However, for rural deliveries, CBF may be able to meet volunteer drivers closer to the home destination.

Householdsare eligible for grocery package deliveries up to once a week. CBF seeks volunteerswho can designate a day of the week/time of day, tobe the primary driver forthat home(s).

Volunteers are able to submit gas reimbursement at $0.25/mile.

Days of the week and time of day can vary based on availability. Pick Up/Delivery times oftenareTuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the morning or afternoons.
