About
Child Development Services provide in-home early intervention to children from birth to age 6 with vision impairment or multiple disabilities. Early Intervention assists children and families in Southern, Central and Northern California. Young children maximize any vision they have and reduce developmental delays. Parents learn to provide their child with therapeutic stimulation and to advocate for their child’s education and care.
Mission Statement
Wayfinder's mission is to ensure that children, youth and adults facing challenges always have a place to turn. Founded in 1953 as the Foundation for the Junior Blind, Wayfinder is a human services agency with expertise in child welfare, mental health, visual impairment and multiple disabilities. Wayfinder is one of the largest statewide foster care and adoption agencies in California, and we provide services to more children who are blind than any other nonprofit in California. Across our programs, Wayfinder strives to achieve equity for all our clients, most of whom are low-income people of color. We serve more than 21,500 children, youth, adults and family members annually. Our name became Wayfinder Family Services in January 2018.
