About
Webelieve that housing is a basic human right.
Our mission is to build healthy, safe and inclusive supportive housing communities as a long-term solution to homelessness.
Avalon Housing first opened its doors in 1992. Ourfounding Executive Director was part of a small group of people working at the emergency shelter who had a vision for Avalon.
"We watched people get into an apartment, then end up back at the shelter again. We knew that ending homelessness would require a more creative approach and a more long-term solution. Avalon Housing grew out of this experience, and into what is now more widely known as supportive housing." Supportive housing is a combination of permanently affordable housing and support services that help peopleachieve housing stability and lead healthier, more productive lives.
