Calm Waters

Calm Waters Center for Children and Families is a nonprofit support center whose mission is to help children and their families in their grief journey casued by death, divorce, or other major loss. Calm Waters was founded in 1992 by Charlotte Lankard, Jason Woodruff, and Sondra Woodruff.

Free Grief Support Groups are offered for children between the ages of 3 and 18 and their families who have lost a loved one, and free Divorce Support Groups are offered for families who have gone through or are going through a divorce.

Support groups bring help and healing to children who are living in difficult and painful times. At Calm Waters, children find a safe and supportive place to share their feelings and experiences in a group of peers who have all experienced similar loss. Through a variety of art and play activities, as well as discussions, healing can begin. Parents find help and support also, as they meet with other adults, share their concerns and learn how to help themselves and their children through turbulent times.
