About

Camp Allen is an overnight and day summer camp that provides opportunities for friendship, growth and fun for children and adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities in an outdoor environment. Camp Allen was established in 1931 by the Boston Lions Club, later Boston Kiwanis in partnership with the Manchester Lions Club as a retreat for young girls who were blind. By the mid-1960s the mission was changed to include individuals of all ages with developmental and physical challenges. Today more than 600 different campers attend for one, two and even multiple weeks of fun in the great outdoors. In addition for 90 years Camp Allen has delivered respite care for families and caregivers that is often the only break they get from 24/7 care in a given year.

Mission Statement

Wonderful things happen when our campers come to Camp Allen for a week or two each summer. Campers learn about differences, develop confidence, and make new friends in an environment filled with fun in the outdoors, and take home wonderful memories.
