Founded in 1996, The Cedar Valley Arboretum and Botanic Gardens is a 501c3 non-profit organization located directly East of Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa.

The mission of the Cedar Valley Arboretum & Botanic Gardens is to enhance the quality of life for all individuals through horticulture. We seek to enrich life by nourishing and sharing the beauty of the natural world, the joy of gardening, knowledge of plants, and the diversity of our world.

Mission Statement

The Arboretum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit independent organization and is located directly east of Hawkeye Community College on Orange Road in Waterloo, Iowa. The Arboretum serves a diverse population which includes all ages and races, people of varied income and skill levels. The grounds are open May-October and volunteers are always needed and encouraged to participate in a variety of ways. Groups of volunteers enjoy carrying out service projects at the Arboretum.

We provide a 40 acre oasis in the Cedar Valley for the community to enjoy, where guests can attend events & educational opportunities, or just take a relaxing walk through our gardens. We also offer an award-winning children's garden and a fun & engaging gnome scavenger hunt for families.
