About
Community Action Network (CAN) envisions theclosingof socio-economic gaps by providing educational and enrichment programs for children and teens, supportive services for families who are under-resourced, and challenging systems rooted in racism and inequality.
Mission Statement
Community Action Network partners with children, youth, and families from under-resourced Washtenaw County neighborhoods to create better futures for themselves, and improve the communities in which they live. This includes services like:
- Stabilizing Families- support, advocacy, case management, food distributions/pantries
- Educating Children and Youth -We aim to meet our students' basic needs, and, what we have coined as,their foundational needs, both of which we believe are equally important for empowering children and youth to thrive.
- Building Strong Communities -CAN operates seven community centers located within specific communities. These community centers are spaces for parties, group meetings, CAN's educational, stabilization, and community-building programs, residents have access to computers with Internet, and more. They are a "third place" for many to come and spend quality time with one another, to have their basic needs met, and for their communities celebrated.
