About

Dubuque Main Street is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization started in 1985. We work with the National Trust for Historic Preservation/Main Street America and the Main Street Iowa programs and our scope of service follows their 4-Point Approach:

1) Design -- 'recycling' buildings, sustainable new construction, and historical restoration.

2) Organization -- internal structure and accountability.

3) Promotion -- special events we host as well as provide support and guidance for others' events, including the Dubuque Farmers' Market.

4) Economic Vitality -- advocacy and guidance with available storefronts, upper-story residential units, and assistance with grants through Iowa's Economic Development Authority.

Mission Statement

We partner with individuals and organization to improve and promote downtown Dubuque as THE place to thrive, dream, and explore. We manage the Dubuque Farmers' Market--Iowa's oldest open-air market. We also host the free summer concerts under the Town Clock, the spring celebration of Architecture Week, and other engaging downtown activities.
