About
Our ongoing park restoration work involves outdoor gardening/landscaping tasks, including clearing, cutting back and removing invasive vines and shrubs, weeding and spreading wood chips, planting native plants, flowers and tree seedlings, and building tree cages. We have yard tools and gloves, though volunteers are welcome to bring their own., as well as water, if desired. We work on one section of the park at a time, taking before and after photos to chronicle our progress! In case of inclement weather, work days are canceled. After a workday of fresh air and exercise, you can relax and enjoy the nearby ocean. We are down the street from Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park, including an ocean beach and skatepark.
Mission Statement
The Friends of Jackson Woods are local volunteers committed to the revitalization of Jackson Woods, a thirteen acre wetland park located in the north end of Long Branch, NJ. Our mission is to transform this land into a unique, innovative and sustainable urban park. Working collaboratively with local government, business and non-profit organizations we will preserve the park’s unique ecosystem and the habitat it provides for local wildlife, while creating a serene and aesthetically pleasing area for passive recreation, environmental education, promotion of the arts and preservation of Long Branch’s rich history that can be enjoyed by both residents and visitors.
