Vision: To inspire passionate curiosity and a deeper understanding of the world around us.

Mission: We exist to be a living monument of artifacts, ideas and stories told through exhibitions, events and educational programming designed to inspire, motivate and celebrate our human bond. We enrich the life of our community through experiences of the wider world in a uniquely Grand Rapids context.

Founded in 1854, the GRPM is the oldest cultural institutions in the state of Michigan with more than a quarter of a million historical artifacts and specimens in its permanent Collections donated by the residents of West Michigan. These Collections are used in educational programming, exhibitions, and for research.

Mission Statement

The GRPM brings traveling exhibits throughout the year combined with in-house exhibitions to satisfya diverse range of interests and ages. GRPM is deeply committed to creating an environment that is inclusive of all learning styles, ages and backgrounds, physical and cognitive needs.
