About

These following program areas collectively advance our mission to provide reliable information, strengthen local journalism, and cultivate engaged and well-informed communities across New Hampshire.

  • News Exchange and Cross-Publishing Hub: We operate a news exchange where partner content is shared among all collaborators for cross-publication across various platforms. Our focus lies on stories of statewide significance and solution-driven narratives. This initiative ensures wider dissemination of trusted information, reaching a broader audience through multiple means and channels. Partners have cross-published more than 6,000 stories, or the equivalent of providing 35 additional impactful stories weekly to every outlet. This is akin to each outlet having access to two additional full-time reporters.

*Coordinated Coverage of Major Events and Issues: Our collaborative assists partners in coordinating coverage of significant events and issues, enhancing efficiency and resource allocation. By pooling resources and expertise, partners can provide comprehensive state and local news to their communities without compromising on journalistic rigor and excellence.

  • Investigative Freelancers and Data Reporting Team: To address complex stories demanding substantial research, data analysis, and investigation, we maintain a dedicated team of investigative freelancers and data reporters. Working closely with partner editors, they produce in-depth stories and projects. We finance the freelancers' time, while partner outlets contribute editing resources, resulting in impactful journalism accessible to all. Freelance reporters have produced over 600 investigative, in-depth and solutions focused pieces, giving partners and their communities the equivalent to 4 extra investigative stories per week.

*Journalist Training: Our commitment to promoting diversity and innovation within newsrooms involves identifying, training, and supporting emerging and nontraditional journalists. Through thorough vetting and training processes, we prepare these journalists to contribute effectively to local newsrooms. Acting as a conduit, we connect them with opportunities to enrich the news landscape with fresh perspectives. Seventeen of our student journalists and interns have gone on to regular freelance and/or full-time work from our partner outlets.
