It is our mission to partner with the community to help save and sustain lives by providing a safe supply of blood, blood components and related services. Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center began operations on Jan. 1, 1975. Serving the largest medical campus in the world, The Blood Center has grown to more than 650 employees and serves more than 170 hospitals and health care institutions in the 26-county Texas Gulf Coast, Brazos Valley and East Texas regions. To meet the needs of the area community, The Blood Center must collect about 800 donations every day. That is why The Blood Center encourages individuals to Commit for Life, a partnership between the community and Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center that is focused on saving lives, today and in the future. Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization and is accredited, licensed and inspected by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), AABB as well as local and state authorities. The Blood Center is a proud member of AABB, Blood Centers of America, South Central Association of Blood Banks, the Texas Medical Center and America's Blood Centers. AABB Certificate of Accreditation for Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments Certificate for Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center Blood Establishment Registration and Product Listing Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is an independent, nonprofit blood center that is not affiliated with the American Red Cross.
