Innisfree Village, Inc.

Innisfree runs a bakery, weavery, and woodshop, kitchen and art studio, plus vegetable and herb gardens as well as a small farm operation. 60+ people call Innisfree home, working in the above areas. About two-thirds of those in the village are people with intellectual disabilities, the remainder are full time live in 24 hour volunteers who choose to live and work in our life-sharing village. One home in Charlottesville complements the rural village residents, for those seeking a more urban living environment.

Innisfree Village is a fully licensed, residential community with adults with intellectual disabilities. Founded in 1971, this nonprofit, nonsectarian, therapeutic farm community is located on 550 acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains outside the university town of Charlottesville, Virginia. We are dedicated to a lifesharing model of living which means that residents and their volunteer caregivers live as families in the community's 15 houses. In this close-knit environment, people develop profound relationships based on mutual needs, respect, and love.
