About
In 1983, residents of the Kennedy Heights Neighborhood came together with the hope of fostering a greater sense of community and creating more activities for neighborhood residents. By 1986, the center was built, incorporated as a non-profit agency, and began operating various programs that add to the quality of life in the neighborhood. Over two decades later a second and third addition have been added to the building and the center continues to expand programs and services to the community. The Kennedy Heights Community Center serves the north-east side of Madison, specifically the 104 apartments in the Kennedy Heights low and medium income housing project. The building and its programs foster community integration and activities for the many diverse families living in the neighborhood. The Center offers programs and services to adults and children living in the community. The activities and programs rely on volunteers for their new ideas, energy, and skills. It is a place for integration, and provides the numerous volunteers and the residents an enriching experience.
Mission Statement
The Kennedy Heights Community Center's mission is to create a community support network for low to moderate income families; increase available resources and programs to improve the lives of residents; and to develop and present social, educational, recreational and cultural programs for children, youth and adults.
