About

For over a decade to follow, The Neighborhood Association had focused on building community, increasing safety, managing neighborhood cleanups and reducing violent and gang related activity in our neighborhood. While the neighborhood association had focused on livability and community building issues in the neighborhood, the Lyndale Neighborhood Development Corporation had focused on the built environment of Lyndale. Between 1992 and 2007, the LNDC, purchased, sold, redeveloped more than 30 properties in the neighborhood and provided more than a half million dollars in loans and grants to property redevelopment.

From approximately 2009-today, while the Neighborhood still provides some housing assistance, our work has focused on Adult Basic Education/English instruction, civic engagement training, tenants rights issues, equitable land development policies, women's empowerment and immigrant rights. As our neighborhood has transitioned into a real global community, we've seen our neighbors come together and adapt. Long-time traditions in the neighborhood have been changing to be more culturally inclusive, our leadership is ever more reflective of the communities now living in Lyndale and our program offerings have adapted to who is living in our neighborhood. We still have a long way to go but we're glad our neighborhood is working together.
