PROGRAM DEFINITIONS AND PROFILES: Public Housing ? Public housing was established to provide decent and safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Public housing is limited to low-income families and individuals. ELIGIBILITY A housing authority determines eligibility based on: 1) annual gross income; 2) whether you qualify as elderly, a person with a disability, or as a family; and 3) U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status. Property: 4 scattered sites 203 units HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER Section 8 ? Housing choice vouchers allow very low-income families to choose and lease or purchase safe, decent, and affordable privately owned rental housing.

MISSION STATEMENT To be results oriented and citizen-centered as it strives to serve the needs of low-income and extremely low-income families in the Public Housing Authority?s jurisdiction. It is also the goal of the McKinney Housing Authority to: 1.Increase the availability of decent, safe and affordable housing in its communities. 2.Ensure equal opportunity in housing. 3.Promote self-sufficiency and asset development of families and individuals and improve community quality of life and economic viability.
