Meals on Wheels of Durham, Inc.

Meals on Wheels Durham is renowned for its hot lunch program — but that’s not all we serve! Thanks to a partnership with a local catering café, we are able to provide a variety of meal options year round to over 580 seniors in Durham County. Monday through Friday, cadres of friendly volunteers pack and deliver hot and frozen meals that serve as a third of a senior’s recommended daily allowance of lean protein, vegetables, fruit, calcium, and complex carbohydrates. All meals are low in sugar and sodium. We also provide two-week hospital discharge meals to older adults returning from the hospital. In addition to our meal services, we offer a variety of auxiliary programs to enrich the overall wellbeing of homebound older adults such as biweekly wellness calls, pet food, nutritional shakes, and more.

Meals on Wheels Durham is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older adults and other community members who are homebound and unable to provide sufficient nutrition for themselves. Through daily meal delivery and regular contact with caring volunteers, we strive to positively impact our clients’ health, independence, and connectivity.
