Sparking Children's Learning through Play
Minnesota Children's Museum is dedicated to providing children with a fun, hands-on and stimulating environment to explore and discover. Through immersive exhibits and programs, the museum emphasizes play as a critical ingredient in every childs development and instillsa life-long love of learning by nurturing the real-world skills children need to become engaged citizens in the future.
Our vision: Kids play more. Adults do, too. We thrive as a happier, healthier and more innovative community through the radiant power of play.
Mission Statement
We Promote the Vital Role of Play in Child Development
Why Play?
Play is more than just fun. Play is essential to development because it contributes to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of children and youth. Its how we learn and practice the key skills we need to be successful people - skills like critical thinking, communication, creativity, coordination, collaboration and more. Despite the numerous benefits derived from play for both children and adults, time for free play has been markedly reduced for some children.
At Minnesota Children's Museum, we:
- Promote a holistic view on play and learning
- Keep play protected and a priority in the lives of people
- Nourish and strengthen essential life-long skills
- Respect individuals as agents of their own learning
