About

The mission of Moveable Feast is to improve the health of Marylanders experiencing food insecurity and chronic illness by preparing and delivering medically tailored meals and providing nutrition education, thereby achieving racial, social, and health equity. Our vision is a Maryland where people come together to feed people, fight disease, and foster hope.

Currently, Moveable Feasts kitchen program has two shifts available during the week: Monday through Friday from 8am-11:30am and Monday-Thursday from 12:30pm-2:30pm, up to 15 volunteers per shift. Our kitchen produces around 31,000 medically tailored meals per month, and volunteers help prep and package these meals.

Our frozen meals are home delivered by volunteers Monday-Friday, between 9am-11am. Delivery drivers are 18+, use their own vehicle, and are required to provide proof of driver’s license and insurance. We also need volunteers for office work, fundraising support, and special events throughout the year. We rely heavily on the support of volunteers like you to meet our production goals and feed our clients living at the intersection of chronic illness and food insecurity!

Mission Statement

Our Programs all provided free of charge:

  • Home Delivered Meals Program:For our clients Food is Medicine. By eating right, our clients can strengthen their bodies and better fight their diseases. So we make sure they get the best meals possible delivered right to their doorstep at no cost. Dietitians on staff work hard to develop nutritious menus, tailored to 7 different diets in order to meet clients health needs (for example; renal, diabetic, no seafood, etc.).We make every meal in our kitchen at N. Milton Avenue and partner with local farms and gardens whenever possible.
  • Medical Nutritional Therapy:Through home visits and phone counseling, our Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) work with clients to create individualized nutrition plans. They set realistic goals and discuss lifestyle changes that will improve clients eating habits and long term health. Please note that home visits and in-person nutrition sessions are currently on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our Nutrition Department has access to a secure telehealth platform for client care.
  • Medical Transportation:Moveable Feast offers free door-to-door transportation to medical appointments for low-income Baltimore City clients living with HIV. We have wheelchair accessible vans.
