Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter

• Animal Socializing & Dog Walking We welcome our volunteers to spend quality time with our adoptable dogs and cats. Your time spent with an adoptable animal helps them feel loved, happy, and comfortable. Volunteers interested in walking dogs are asked to attend a Dog Walking orientation. These orientations are held monthly. Dog walking is available 7 days a week. Volunteers can handle our cats Monday-Friday during our hours of operation.

• Shelter Cleaning Our shelter is open for adoptions 7 days a week, which means we need help cleaning and caring for our adoptable animals every day! If you are interested in assisting us with cleaning, we need help washing dishes, sanitizing litter pans, washing laundry, mopping, sweeping, cleaning crates, and more. Cleaning is completed primarily in the morning, so help is needed beginning at 8 a.m., 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.

• Event Help/FUNdraising Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter is funded only through the generous donations of our supporters. Every year, our shelter hosts fundraisers to continue our lifesaving work. We need volunteer help for not only setup, event work, and cleanup, but also the work it takes to promote our fundraisers, solicit donations, create presentations, and more.

• Photography/Videography We want to utilize all of our volunteer’s talents at our events. Especially with the way how social media has been a huge impact on giving organizations exposure to the public. Taking pictures, creating highlight videos, promos, etc are huge ways to promote our shelter.

• Administrative Duties Help can always be used in the office as well! Whether it’s scanning documents, filing, writing thank you cards etc. we can use the help.

• Donation Pick Up & Drop Off Every day we get a ton of donations delivered to us. But we also get donations from companies that would like us to pick up from their location. It would be a great service to us if you can stop by those locations and pick up the donations to deliver to us. Please be on the lookout for Shania’s email when a pick up & drop off is needed.

Outdoor Maintenance Cleaning drains, raking leaves, mowing lawn, power washing windows and sidewalks etc.

-Deliver the highest level of animal care to prepare today’s animals in need for their future homes -Bring together the cats and dogs who need a loving family with the people who want them -Provide community services and resources to ensure every animal has a safe and healthy life
