O.A.T.S. offers group and private therapeutic horseback riding lessons. All our instructors are PATH, International certified. Our riders benefit emotionally, physically and cognitively. Instead of highlighting what people cannot do, our programs allow riders to participate in activities in which their limitations are minimized. The ability to control a horse inspires self-confidence and improves the rider’s overall level of emotional well-being. Because the horse’s gait is similar to a person’s walk, therapeutic riding is a great tool for someone who is just learning to walk or who needs to strengthen the muscles they use to walk. Games played while on horseback teach riders letters, different colors, shapes and sizes, and counting. These lessons can help improve reading and math skills. These games also foster a positive attitude toward learning because the lessons take place in a fun and supportive environment.
