Mission Statement

The mission of The Outreach Program is to provide safe water, food, medical care, and education to those in need, at home and abroad. Outreach is an internationally respected 501C3 that is accredited by Charity Navigator, and has been honored by two US Presidents at the White House. Since its formation in 2004 by Founders Kathy and Floyd Hammer, Outreach has packaged and distributed over 720 million meals to those in need.

Outreach?s Chicago-based affiliate, Feed6 (www.Feed6.org), was co-founded in 2011 by Bill Kanatas and Chris Coyne as an expression of their support for food insecure children, families, seniors, and veterans. Feed6 is not a 501C3, but operates under the umbrella of Outreach as its all-volunteer planning and hosting facilitator for meal packaging events in the Chicago area. Feed6 has worked with scores of local schools, churches, corporations, civic organizations such as Rotary, and chambers of commerce?and tens of thousands of volunteers?to package and distribute over 6 million nutrient-rich meals throughout the Chicago area. All meals have been designed by food scientists at Iowa State Univeristy to be nutritionally richer than that comparably purchased at a store.

Over the last 12 years, Feed6-Outreach has hosted 125 powerful, celebratory events in the Chicago area, each packaging tens of thousands of delicious entrees of Mac & Cheese or Pasta Tomato Basil Sauce, bringing people of all backgrounds and demographics together in heart-filled, giving, caring experiences to support local neighbors in need. Funds are raised by our sponsoring partners themselves - or through grants and donors. Packaged meals are distributed through local soup kitchens and community pantries, or through Feeding America?s Chicago Food Depository or Northern Illinois Food Bank, to those most in need.
