Our Story..Caring for Generations

Russell-Murray Hospice (RMH) is an open access, non-profit organization serving a 75-mile radius of El Reno, Oklahoma since 1988. A diverse Board of Directors governs RMH. Our program is licensed by the State of Oklahoma and is certified by Medicare.

Russell-Murray Hospice was co-founded and establishedin 1988 bytwo registered nurses who were dedicated to the provision of excellent end-of-life care. The hospice was named in memory of the founders fathers, John Mart Russell and Hardee LeRoy Murray, who both suffered with terminal illnesses. Russell-Murray Hospice is the only free-standing, open access, non-profit 501(c)(3)hospice serving central andwesternOklahoma.Operating as a non-profit hospice allows us to care for all who qualify for services, regardless of ability to pay.

Our mission

Our mission is to enrich the lives of individuals and families by providing a comprehensive, personalized program of services delivered by trusted, caring professionals, emphasizing quality of life, comfort, dignity and personal choices.

We aim to serve communities as a leading resource in clinical, ethical and spiritual issues relating to life-limiting illnesses and grief.

Who is eligible?

Any patient with a life-limiting condition, who seeks comfort and quality of life, rather than curative treatment, may be eligible for RMH services. The patients doctor and the hospice team use their best clinical judgement to determine if the patient is terminally ill with a life expectancy of six months or less, if the disease runs its normal course.

SErvices will be provided without discrimination in regard to race, color, national origin, age, handicap, financial situation, disease, religion, gender or sexual orientation.

RMH is an equal opportunity employer.

Our funding

Our programis funded through various avenues such as the Medicare Hospice Benefit andcontracts with private health insurance companies. We also receive vital funding through various grants and individualmemorial donations made throughout the year. No patient is ever charged for our services, and no patient or family member ever receives a bill from us. If a patient has no funding resources we, the providing agency, simply absorbs the cost of the care provided. Providing this complimentary care is a crucial component of our mission at RMH; it is in keeping with the true spirit of the hospice concept. On average RMH provides approximately $400,000of charity care services annually to those in need. We consider it not onlyour mission, butour honor, to care for those who wouldotherwise be underserved.
