About
The mission of SHP is simple: No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town. SHP was started in Kimberly, Idaho in 2012. A founding principle is that a bed is a basic need for the proper physical, emotional, and mental support that a child needs. SHP is a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need. Since its inception, the organization has grown to over 300 chapters in forty-six states, Canada, and Bermuda. Our Houston North chapter was started in late 2018. Since our founding, we have built and delivered over 3700 beds to children in Houston.
Mission Statement
The goal of Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) is to build and provide beds for all children in need. It also offers an opportunity for organizations to support this effort via donations and by assisting in bed delivery and construction, which comprises a well-designed process staffed with knowledgeable volunteers. The primary beneficiaries of SHP are children aged 3-17 who do not have appropriate sleeping accommodations
