About
The SHARE Shelter Board is a subgroup of Seattle Housing and Resource Effort (SHARE) that advocates and fund raises for SHARE. We are passionate about supporting SHARE as it provides a unique alternative for homeless men and women. It provides safety for individuals while building community.
SHARE is a self-organized, democratic, grassroots organization of homeless and formally homeless individuals working to eradicate homelessness, educate the community, and empower homeless people.They practice self-management because it acknowledges and promotes the innate dignity of each person.
Mission Statement
The SHARE Shelter Board conducts an annual auction to benefit SHARE.
SHARE
- Provides shelter, the most basic human survival need.
- Is the largest and most cost efficient homeless shelter network in King County.
- Is uniquie. Its 10 indoor shelters (most hosted by faith communities) and two encampments are substance free, managed communities with a commitment to serving their local communities. The 2 encampments, Tent City 3, and Tent City 4 on the Eastside are enclosed secure facilities with toilets and garbage service.
- Is self-managed with rules for participation.
- Provides shelter for men, women, couples, parents with children, people with pets.
