About
YogAutismTM, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 2008 by long-time Yogi and yoga instructor, past owner/founder of Mound Street Yoga studio, and current Kinesiology PhD student, Scott Anderson. We are located in Madison, WI and mainly serve the Dane county area. Mission Enhancing the lives of those with autism through yoga inspired programs & experiences.
Mission Statement
We offer one-to-one sessions, group classes, and training courses based on the YogAutism 5-part Recipe and all programs are supervised and/or facilitated by experienced, professionally trained, and dedicated staff. In a one-to-one session a professionally trained and certified Yogi will come to your home and assist the individual through the YogAutism "Recipe" to ensure the recipient is able to safely and effectively perform each pose or exercise and achieve the ultimate goal of diaphragmatic breath triggering a lowering of unwanted stress responses. A group class consists of several individuals with either their caregiver, friend, or family member, and is guided and supervised by one of our professionally trained facilitators. These sessions are useful for those who want to learn the YogAutism recipe with the guidance of one of our trained professionals and wish to be equipped with several modifications to best handle whatever response and resulting circumstance that may arise. Our training courses teach how the autistic brain works and receives stimuli. Participants experience simulations of the Autism-experience, learn the importance of mindfulness, learn an overview of breathing anatomy and are guided through a self-conducted version of "the Recipe". Training participants are typically people who can be considered support persons for individuals with autism, such as family members, caregivers, teachers, and therapists.
