About this Opportunity
Brief Organizational Description:
The Friends of the Chesterfield County Public Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, community-based group that supports Chesterfield County Public Library programs and community events. Our mission focuses on promoting our public libraries as vibrant centers for enrichment. Even though the Friends are a single 501c(3) non-profit, there are currently ten Friends Branch Groups serving at each of the ten Chesterfield County Public Library branches.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
The Friends Board of Directors is the decision-making body that determines ways in which the Friends will support the mission of the Chesterfield County Public Library. The Friends are looking for an enthusiastic, library-loving volunteer for the position of Friends of the Library Branch Leader for the Ettrick-Matoaca and Enon branches. Friends branch groups are critical to the success and strength of our organization. A branch leader ensures the branch is active, has engaged members and volunteers, manages the A-frame book sales, and more. This is an important position with voting responsibility.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
Friends of the Chesterfield County Public Library membership at the Ettrick-Matoaca and Enon branches is a requirement to be the branch leader at these locations. Visit www.chesterfieldfriends.org/join-friends for more information about how to join the Friends.
Preferred qualifications include knowledge of recruitment and promotion of nonprofit and volunteer activities, ability to plan and facilitate meetings, and excellent communication skills.
Interested candidates will participate in a brief interview.
Time Commitment:
The branch leader should be able to commit approximately 3 hours a week to their role. They would be expected to attend virtual monthly board meetings (typically on the second Monday of the month in the evening).
Other Information:
