SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Broadway Library is seeking volunteers interested in helping maintain the garden area.

This opportunity is geared towards teens and adults with gardening experience. Volunteers would be responsible for working alongside the branch custodial staff to weed and clean up around the flower bed planted near the book drop under the balcony. They will also monitor (water, mulch, etc.) the plants and flowers to ensure everything is growing properly.

MINIMUM SKILLS

  • Must be 14 years and older (parental consent and working papers required for minors)
  • Possess an interest in horitculture and gardening
  • Able to distinguish various types of weeds from garden plants and flowers
  • Willingness to water plants, replace soil, and provide general upkeep of garden including removing any litter, replanting annuals and other flowers and plants.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a volunteer to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
