About this Opportunity
The Disaster Action Team (DAT) Duty Officer ensures timely activation and monitoring of local and regional DAT responses. The Duty Officer supports the DAT program either at the chapter/territory or region level.
Why:
Most of the 60,000 emergencies that the Red Cross responds to each year are local, personal disasters like home fires. Disaster Action Teams (DAT) provide emotional support, financial assistance, and information to help families begin the process of recovery.
What's Expected:
Responsibilities vary depending on assignment.
- May include providing support to one or more of the following areas within the shelter:
- reception
- registration
- dormitory
- feeding
- information
- supply
- Provide excellent customer service to clients
- Complete the required virtual self-paced training (3.5 hours of training total)
Ability to lift and carry 20 lbs. multiple times per shift, stand or sit for 2-hour periods
Walk two miles per shift, possibly on uneven terrain and outdoors in inclement weather and up two or more flights of stairs.
