About this Opportunity

Local Leadership Board members support the Arthritis Foundation as champions of the mission, opening doors to influential individuals, organizations, and community partners. In partnership with staff, you build awareness while meeting mission delivery and fundraising goals in the local community.

Represent the Arthritis Foundation at official functions and through social media. Ensure the Arthritis Foundation fulfills its commitment to diverse volunteer leadership that reflects the communities served. Assist in achieving community engagement and financial goals. Sign-up to be an Arthritis Foundation Advocate for important policy initiatives.

Project Requirements & Important Notes

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an ambassador for the Arthritis Foundation in the community

  • Open doors to individuals, organizations, and community partners

  • Support fundraising efforts and mission delivery goals

  • Attend virtual board meetings and key events

  • Promote the mission on social media and within your network

  • Advocate for arthritis-related policy initiatives


Required Skills/Experience: 

  • Passion for the Arthritis Foundation’s mission

  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills

  • Comfortable speaking to individuals, groups, or using social media

  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion within the community

  • Volunteers must be 16 years old or older


Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in fundraising, leadership, nonprofit, or community engagement is a plus


Time Commitment: Local Leadership Board volunteers are asked to commit to a 3-year term. This opportunity takes place remotely. 

Onboarding Process: Register as a Local Leadership Board volunteer on The Arthritis Foundation's website. An Arthritis Foundation staff member will reach out to you with next steps. 

Attire: Business casual or business attire. 

Physical Requirements: No physical requirements. This project is able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations. For in-person meetings, the volunteer or staff lead will make sure the space is accessible for all participants. The space where this project takes place is wheelchair accessible.
