About this Opportunity
The SPCA Westchester Animal Rescue Center is looking for Volunteer Camp Counselors for it's summer 2025 season. Summer Camp Counselors are responsible for planning and leading games, crafts, educational activities, tours, and more for children attending SPCA's summer camp program.
The ideal volunteer is a motivated leader who demonstrates excellent organization and a true passion for working with children in engaging, safe environments.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a positive and interactive learning environment for campers by planning and leading a variety of activities
- Work collaboratively with others
- Communicate effectively and professionally with volunteers, staff, campers, families, and the public
- Work efficiently under pressure and be adaptable in a fast-paced environment
- Ensure campers are supervised at all times
- Strictly adhere to SPCA Westchester protocols
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Excellent time management with ability to multi-task
- Ability to meet physical requirements including but not limited to: walking, standing, bending, squatting, and lifting (up to 40 pounds)
- Animal handling experience preferred
- Camp counselor experience preferred (or similar)
- Must pass a background check
- Monday-Friday
- Late June-August
- Approximately 15 hours per week

Animal shelters nationwide are experiencing higher animal intakes and lower adoption rates than in years past. Camp Counselors help SPCA educate, expand, and deepen its connection with the community in its efforts to combat the problem of animal homelessness.
