Legal and Compliance

The Legal & Compliance Director ensures the organization operates in accordance with all
applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards. This board member provides guidance
on governance, risk management, and organizational policies to protect the integrity and
sustainability of Empowerment Pathways.


Responsibilities include reviewing and advising on contracts, policies, and procedures;
supporting compliance with nonprofit regulations; and helping ensure proper
documentation and reporting practices are maintained. The Director may also guide the
board on issues related to liability, confidentiality, and ethical decision-making.


This role involves identifying potential legal or compliance risks and recommending
proactive solutions. The Legal & Compliance Director may collaborate with external legal
counsel when needed and help ensure the organization follows best practices in governance
and accountability.


Ideal candidates have a background in law, compliance, or nonprofit governance, along with
strong analytical skills and attention to detail. This role is essential in safeguarding the
organization’s mission and ensuring responsible, ethical operations.


This role may oversee or collaborate with:

  • External legal counsel or advisors
  • Policy and governance committees
  • Risk management or compliance coordinators
  • Contract review or documentation support
  • Confidentiality and data protection leads
