About this Opportunity
Newton Athletes Unlimited serves over 300 children and adults with disabilities, providing year-round programs to encourage physical, social, emotional and intellectual development.
Volunteers will be walking and talking with athletes ages 16+ with disabilities, helping to build social skills, relationships, and helping our athletes lead an active lifestyle. Volunteers will need to have the ability to walk around a track for approximately 30-40 minutes (slow pace).
It is helpful to have experience working with individuals with disabilities, but it is not a requirement. This is an extremely fun night for all athletes and volunteers! Walking and talking, what more could you ask for!
MBTA Line Accessibility: Walking distance from Newtonville stop on the Commuter Rail & bus stops nearby (Bus 59 - Walnut and Mill, Bus 553 & 554 - Washington and Lowell Ave., Bus 556 - Washington and Walnut).
At Boston Cares, we recognize that diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values that guide our mission and work. Boston Cares is committed to creating a community where everyone is valued, respected, and can come and participate as their authentic selves. We expect that all volunteers and partners join us in promoting a safe and supportive space for everyone.
