About this Opportunity
Neighbors Link is an organization located Yonkers, Ossining, and Mount Kisco that is dedicated to the healthy integration of immigrants in Westchester. It is currently looking for volunteers to assist as Teaching Assistants during its weekly technology program in Yonkers on Friday mornings from 10-11:30 a.m.
Teaching Assistants will:
- Help with set up (mouse pads, laptops, papers)
- Assist clients with logging onto computers and completing the exercises during the teacher's guided session
- Point out relevant applications and menus to ensure that clients are following the lessons taught by the teacher
Typical session topics include creating flyers; drafting emails; formatting emails; using Google Translate; and getting accustomed to different features of Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets (such as inserting images, changing typefaces, and formatting documents).
Volunteers will be provided with a list of commonly used languages for the class. Classes are warm and welcoming spaces to build community, and volunteers should feel comfortable approaching clients who may be struggling or who are shy during the guided sessions. Volunteers are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early to assist with set up. Although Spanish literacy is helpful, it is not required to volunteer.
Registration closes 24 hours prior to the project start time. Express interest in one or more shifts below!
