About this Opportunity

Opportunity Overview:
The Livestock Team at Powisset Farm is recruiting volunteers to assist in daily chores caring for livestock on the farm. Tasks include feeding and watering the animals and manure management. The ideal candidate will have experience with livestock and can commit to a weekly schedule of 1-2 shifts for 3-9 months.

We are looking for volunteers from May 15-October 31st. Volunteer shifts are 1.5 hours between these hours:
7:30-9:30am for the morning shift
4:30-6:30pm for the evening shift
The Powisset Barnyard has goats, pigs, lambs, and a rabbit!

Minimum age: 18.

Reports to: Livestock Caretaker 

Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following):

  • Feeding and watering farm animals
  • General coop/stall/barnyard cleaning and maintenance
  • Special projects from time to time
  • Adhere to The Trustees safety protocols
  • Logging volunteer hours
Qualifications
  • Willingness to work with others as well as independently
  • Ability to provide own transportation to the farm
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in varying New England weather conditions
  • Commitment to providing the best care for our livestock
  • Minimum age: 18
Time commitment
The ideal candidate will be able to commit to the same weekly schedule for a minimum of 3-6 months
