About this Opportunity
This posting is for DVL Level 2: Roles Overview and Activation. Click the ‘Express Interest’ button only if you have already taken the DVL Level 1: Orientation Training.
If you are interested in becoming a Disaster Volunteer Leader but have not taken the Level 1 training, feel free to sign up here. We host Orientation training monthly!
Training Description:
When disaster strikes, Hands On Nashville (HON) partners with the city of Nashville to provide volunteers for cleanup and community support. We rely on trained Disaster Volunteer Leaders to coordinate these efforts, extending the reach of HON staff to make our disaster response as effective and efficient as possible. From leading volunteers as they clear debris to helping our communications team respond to the public, we need leaders like you to help HON meet the unforeseen needs of survivors in our community. This training will expand upon information from the Orientation training and provide information about protocols and procedures.
This 2-hour training will cover:
An in-depth look at the different Operations Team roles DVLs can fill
Recon teams, Volunteer Reception Centers, Field Staging Areas, and Disaster Squads
Standard operating procedures and protocols
What to expect before, during, and after a disaster occurs
A scenario-based section; we will put what you have learned to the test
The training will take place in-person; location information and other details will be sent out after sign-up confirmation. Snacks and refreshments will be provided!
Disaster Volunteer Leaders were crucial to HON’s response efforts following the tornado, bombing, and floods – DVL’s will continue to be vital whenever the next disaster strikes. Thank you for being part of the team that helps Nashville come together when we need each other the most!
