Construction Volunteering

We build in Elgin, Carpentersville and Crystal Lake on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8:30am-4:00pm. We will also be starting a St. Charles site and our Carter Crossing subdivision in Carpentersville will begin work later this year.

Activities can include painting, flooring, trim, framing, drywall, insulation, windows, cleaning, siding, roofing, landscaping etc. Indoor activities will be done during inclement weather. No experience is necessary – we will teach you. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and any minors need to have a parent/guardian volunteer with them to supervise. We can also host teams of 10 for build days. Please reach out to [email protected] with any questions or to schedule a build day.

Volunteer Registration: To register/sign-up for a build day, go to the “Participate” tab on our website (HabitatNFV.org) and select “Volunteer Registration” or select the link here https://volunteerup.com/Login.asp?w=i&o=175 and complete the following steps.

• Select the register icon under "I am a New Volunteer!" and select the Northern Fox Valley affiliate. • Create a volunteer profile and acknowledge our Liability Waiver. If you are not volunteering as part of a group, select NONE under “Groups/Teams”. • Once you have completed your registration you should see our construction calendar. • To sign-up for a build day, complete the following steps: • Find the location and date you want to sign-up for and select your shift. If you are signing up without a group, your shift is labeled “individual volunteer”. • Once you’ve selected your shift, check the box next to the shift name and hit the sign-up button located at the top of the screen. • You can e-mail or print a confirmation of your registration. If you can’t make it on a certain day, don’t forget to delete your sign-up on VolunteerUp.
