About this Opportunity

Woodies on the Wharf is the unofficial start to summer in Santa Cruz on Saturday, June 21st! With the collaboration for Parks and Rec and The Santa Cruz Woodies Club we fill the Wharf with 200 classic woodies cars and share the love of tradition and history of our coastal paradise. This event is the busiest day on the Santa Cruz Wharf, and volunteers help improve the event and experience of our guest through communications, set up and break down. Volunteer Roles are listed below - please choose the shift time that matches the assignment you want.

  • Set Up Booths (merch tents, bike valet, etc.) This includes setting up pop up tents, tables, and chairs. Time 6AM – 9AM. Moving and lifting objects is required
  • Traffic/ Parking Communications with PD Volunteers. This will be assisting the Santa Cruz Police Department volunteers in communication with the public about limited parking, no parking areas and bike valet location and keeping the follow of traffic moving. Two sifts, 9AM -1PM and 12PM -4PM. This is not enforcement but communications, a hi-vis vest will be provided and worn for safety and identification during shift. Standing and walking during the shift is required.
  • Break Down Booths (merch tents, bike valet, etc.) This includes breaking down pop up tents, tables, and chairs. Time 3PM – 5PM. Moving and lifting objects is required.
Parking is the biggest challenge for this event, so volunteers (and staff) need to park offsite, use alternative transportation or be dropped off, there is a bike valet that is free during the event as well as the Santa Cruzer Beach Shuttle that can be utilized. Traffic is impacted throughout the day beginning at 9AM with a road closure at 3:15PM for the parade of Woodies going off the Wharf. Please plan accordingly for your shift (expect additional 30 minutes of travel time).
