About Housing Families First:

Housing Families First (HFF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to address and solve family homelessness in the Richmond region. Through the collective efforts and support of those who walk beside us, we continue to make strides toward a future where every family has a safe place to call home.

Make a Difference by Providing Breakfast/Snack Bags to Families in Hilliard House Shelter!

This project is perfect for families, congregations, youth groups, civic organizations, corporations, neighbors and individuals.

How You Can Help:

Groups or individuals are invited to put together snack and/or breakfast bags.  We ask for minimum of (10) ten bags be prepared and include the following items:

Grab-and-Go Breakfast Bags: These bags make mornings run just a little bit more smoothly here in the shelter.

ALL BAGS MUST BE IN A CLEAR GALLON SIZED ZIPLOCK BAGS FILLED WITH PREPACKAGED, INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED BREAKFAST ITEMS SUCH AS:

  • Small Box of Cereal
  • Shelf Stable Milk or Juice Box 
  • Granola Bars
  • Fruit cups or pouches

Snack/Activity Bags: We find it is very helpful when kids are provided with snacks and/or activities during their stay here at Hilliard House. 

ALL BAGS MUST BE IN A CLEAR GALLON SIZED ZIPLOCK BAGS FILLED WITH PREPACKAGED, INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED SNACK ITEMS SUCH AS:

  • Juice Box or Water 
  • Chips/Cookies
  • Cereal Bars/ Granola Bars
  • Fruit Snacks
  • Fruit/Vegetable Squeeze Pouches
  • Pretzels/Crackers

SNACK BAGS MUST ALSO INCLUDE AN ACTIVITY SUCH AS:

  • Small Sheet of Stickers
  • Small Coloring Book w/Crayons

A few important notes:

  • Once you express interest, someone from HFF's team will contact you within two business days to thank you for your sign up and to answer any questions you may have. If you do not have questions, feel free with getting started on building your kit(s).  
  • Kit(s) need to be delivered to HFF's administrative office located at 3900 Nine Mile Rd, Richmond VA 23223. 
  • Deliveries will only be accepted Monday-Friday between 9A-5P. 
  • Every (10) completed bags with 4+ items and a hand-written note of encouragement is equivalent to (2) hours of community service. 

  • If you are completing this as a part of court-ordered community service and will need to provide documentation of service, please let us know when expressing interest. You will be responsible for confirming that these hours are acceptable for service.
