About this Opportunity
The mission of the St. Louis Arc is to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families to lead better lives by providing a lifetime of high-quality services, family supports, and advocacy.
New volunteers must complete paperwork and volunteer orientation before starting. Volunteers must be 18 years and older to sign up. Groups of up to 10 people are invited to volunteer, and all group members must be 18 years and older.
Dance Club South
Date: Every 3rd Friday of the month, June 20, July 18, August 15
Event Time: 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Volunteer Time: 7:15 pm - 9:45 pm
Location: South County
Dance Club 1240
Date: Every 3rd Saturday of the month: June 21, July 19, August 16
Event Time: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Volunteer Time: 6:45 pm - 9:15 pm
Location: Creve Coeur
As a Dance Club Chaperone, you will play a vital role in creating a fun and safe environment for adults with disabilities during the dance events. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the well-being of participants while fostering an inclusive and enjoyable atmosphere.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Supervise and engage with participants during dance events, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Assist with setup and cleanup of the dance space as needed.
- Encourage participation and interaction among attendees to promote a welcoming environment.
- Be available to address any concerns or emergencies that may arise during the event.
**Qualifications:**
- Passion for working with adults with disabilities and a commitment to inclusivity.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and independently.
- Must be respectful, patient, and empathetic towards participants’ diverse needs.
