We’ll be out in the community connecting with attendees, sharing information about NMDP, and helping people learn how a simple cheek swab could be the first step toward saving the life of someone with a blood cancer or blood disorder.

This is a fun, high-energy community event and a great opportunity to make an impact while volunteering with NMDP!

🎓 Volunteer Training

All volunteers are encouraged to attend our virtual training before the event. We’ll cover NMDP, the registration process, how to talk with potential registry members, and your volunteer roles for the day.

🙌 Recruitment Roles

1. Registration Team
Engage attendees in meaningful conversations, guide them through joining the registry with a simple cheek swab, and make sure they complete their profile.

2. Educational Team
Answer questions and provide clear, accurate information about the donation process so potential registry members can make an informed decision about joining.

3. Hype Team
Bring the energy! Approach attendees, share quick and impactful messages, and invite people to join the registry on the spot.

💬 Quick Elevator Pitch

“Hi! Do you want to fight cancer with us?
We’re helping people with blood cancer find a stem cell donor. You can join the registry with a simple cheek swab that takes about five minutes.

If you are matched with someone, about 90% of donations are similar to donating plasma, while about 10% involve donating bone marrow. You may need to travel, but all donation-related expenses are fully covered.

It’s a simple step that could help save a life. No pressure at all — I’m happy to share more if you’re interested!”

👕 Attire

Please wear comfortable clothing when volunteering at the event. Comfortable shoes are recommended, as volunteers may be standing and engaging with attendees throughout the event.
