2026 Encore Community Services Mealtime Support
Who We Are
Encore Community Services supports the aging population of Manhattan thrive. Encore supports over 1,200 clients every week through meal delivery, a community dining room, case management and social events. Encore provides a safe, warm, and empowering space for this often stigmatized population.
Encore is in need of volunteers help out during mealtime assisting with kitchen prep work and meal service while our chef and kitchen staff prepare the tasty, cooked-from-scratch food Encore is known for.
*This post supports mealtime needs for both of Encore's Centers. Please ensure you choose the desired location and timeframe below upon registration.
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Work with the kitchen staff to prepare for meal times
- Ensure cleanliness and safety of the kitchen
- Collaborate with other chefs to make sure mealtime runs smoothly
- Serve meals
- Keep tables clean for guest turnover
- Pour coffee/drinks
- Distribute to-go meals
- Socialize with older adults
Qualifications & Skills
- Have basic knowledge of kitchen safety and kitchen prep work
- Able to work in group setting
- Willing to learn about professional kitchen practices
- Dress comfortably in something you don’t mind getting food on
- Close-toed shoes
- Be personable and welcoming to the population served
