About this Opportunity
Who We Are:
Join Encore Community Services in supporting the aging population of Manhattan. Encore supports over 1,200 clients every week through meal delivery, a community dining room, and community social events. Encore provides a safe, warm, and empowering space for this often stigmatized population.
Encore is in need of volunteers to help assemble our “cold packs” - one half of the meal we deliver to older adults. In addition to the main meal, we provide items such as milk, bread, and fruit—items that require refrigeration, and are difficult for our clients to get at traditional food pantries. We need these bags ready to go every day before the deliveries.
As a volunteer, you will:
- Prepare packages with items such as milk, bread, fruit, etc.
- Work as a team with other volunteers to portion out meal kits
Qualifications/Skills:
- Be able to lift 15+ lbs
- Be personable and welcoming to the population served
- Dress comfortably in long pants, shirts with sleeves (no shorts or tank tops), and wear closed-toed shoes
