About this Opportunity
The Nueva Vida Food Project is looking for volunteers to help load and distribute groceries to our clients. Please note our food bank location is in the Glencliff area of Nashville and NOT at the East Brentwood Presbyterian Church. When we confirm your shift, we will send you the exact address.
Our volunteer hours for food serves are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5 PM to 8 PM, and Saturdays, from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM. We feed over 200 people per week and provide resource information and basic essentials. Those who come to our door represent the beautiful diversity of Nashville. Many are non-English speakers, so we also have a special need for bilingual volunteers to serve as greeters. If you are interested in helping as a greeter, please let us know that you are bilingual when you sign up so we can keep track of volunteer job assignments.
In addition, we need volunteers to help on our delivery mornings, Monday, Wednesday and Friday from approximately 9 AM to 1 PM. These delivery shifts do involve some heavy lifting of 30 + lbs, while we stock our shelves with food we receive from the Second Harvest Food Bank, but we always share the load and can assign lighter duties if requested. Please do let us know if you have any physical restrictions and we will keep that in mind when assigning tasks. This is a great small group or family activity, as we work in teams of 4 to 6 people of all ages. You will be working outside for part of the shift so please dress accordingly.
We could not do the important work of feeding our neighbors in need without the help of our wonderful volunteers. Please come join us!
