2025 CCCS April Immigration Court Helpdesk (ICH) REMOTE Interpreter SPANISH

Catholic Charities Community Services (CCCS) Immigrant Legal Services provide professional, confidential legal consultations, representation and assistance to documented and undocumented immigrants, refugees and newcomers of all nationalities, ethnicities and religions.

We need volunteers for our Immigration Court Helpdesk REMOTE court participants screening days. Throughout the month, we offer consultations to unrepresented individuals in non-detained court proceedings. The goal of the individual information session is to help individuals understand their legal situations and provide additional information about possible forms of relief or immigration court procedures in Spanish language.

As a volunteer, you will:

• Assist the Attorney in charge with Spanish Interpretation for the participant using legal terms and nonlegal terms.
• Assist up to six participants10:00 am to 4:30 pm.  (HOURS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE)

Skills/ Qualifications:

• Bilingual Spanish speaker
• Will need a working phone and personal computer
• A quiet place to take phone calls
• Have phone etiquette and a customer-service mindset
• Able to exercise patience and empathy while working with clients
• Ability to work independently; each phone screening will take 30-45 minutes
