About this Opportunity
Brief Organizational Description:
Boaz & Ruth empowers the Highland Park Neighborhood in Richmond's Northside through Connecting Neighbors, Rebuilding Lives, and Renewing Spaces.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Help keep Harvest Thrift open for business 1 Saturday a month from 9am to 12pm. Most Saturday's will be the 1st Saturday of the month. There will be 1 or 2 Saturdays in the year that we will be open the 3rd Saturday instead of the 1st.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
The Saturday volunteer will watch the salesfloor, keep the story clean, sort, price and place donated goods, and help answer phones/take phone messages We are looking for a long-term volunteers who are willing and able to learn how to checkout customers at the register.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
- friendly disposition
- customer service skills
- basic math skills
- phone etiquette skills
- ability to lift 10 lbs
- ability to learn new technology systems - work a cash register
Time Commitment:
Volunteers should be able to consistently committ to 3 hours from 9am to 12pm, the first Saturday of the month. (there will be 1 or 2 Saturdays we are open the 3rd Saturday instead of the 1st)
Other Information (if applicable):
- Attendance will be logged by sign-in/out via a google form
- Orientation and training provided
- Recommended attire
- modest, clean, comfortable attire with closed toed shoes
- Parking lot located behind the building or street parking available
- Volunteers should bring a refillable water bottle
- Court ordered allowed on a case by case basis - but willingness to commit after court ordered hours are complete is required
