Homework Center Helpers at Rochdale Village (16+)

SUMMARY:
We are seeking individuals to serve within Library Homework Centers to provide support to students in grades 1-5 to better understand and complete their work. Students learn to prioritize assignments based on difficulty, review notes and textbooks, and apply the information to assignments and projects.

Students are guided by a team of Homework Help staff and volunteers trained to reinforce classroom information and employ learning techniques that allow students to confidently finish assignments on their own.

Centers operate Monday- Thursday, during after-school hours from 3:00pm - 5:30pm, starting the week of October 6th through late-May.

SKILLS REQUIRED: 

As a Homework Center Helper, you must satisfy these requirements to apply:

• 16 years old or older
• Available at least three (3) afternoons per week between Monday through Thursday
• Available between 3:00pm - 5:30pm
• Interested and willing to work with school aged children in grades 1-5
• Patient and calm demeanor able to deconstruct and explain academic information and subject matter to others
• Able to commit to a minimum of 12-15 weeks, not including holidays and school breaks.
• Bilingual skills a plus

Volunteer schedules depend on individual dates and times available

Monday: 3:00pm - 5:30pm 

Tuesday: 3:00pm - 5:30pm 

Wednesday: 3:00pm - 5:30pm 

Thursday: 3:00pm - 5:30pm 

Friday: 3:00pm - 5:30pm 

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
