About this Opportunity

Volunteer Ambassadors needed to report to various locations.
 
The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano is looking for volunteers to serve as Ambassadors to help share our mission with the community.  Food Bank Ambassadors should be passionate about fighting hunger and the Food Bank. They will work with all departments at the Food Bank to strengthen the Food Bank’s visibility in the community by providing Food Bank information and resources during community events and activities. We are looking for six volunteers to serve as Ambassadors of the Food Bank in Contra Costa & Solano Counties. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to attend at least one community event or activity per month for one year.

Ambassador Duties:

  • Share information and resources about the Food Bank by tabling during community events & activities.
  • Speaking to groups of community members or individuals during community events & activities to share your experience with the Food Bank and/or provide a brief overview of the Food Bank.
  • Support the Food Bank by recruiting for volunteers during community events and activities.
  • Provide resources to people who ask where to get food.
  • Support the Food Bank with providing warehouse tours.
  • ​Supporting the Food Bank’s signature events by sharing your story, touring volunteers, and connecting with community members.
  • Become familiar with Food Bank talking points and "Gran n Go" stats.

Ambassador Program Commitment:

  • Ability to commit to supporting the Volunteer Ambassador Program for one full year (September 2025-August 2026)
    • Attend a mandatory, Ambassador Program Orientation & Training (TBD August).
    • Respond to communications around upcoming activities and events.
    • Ability to communicate via phone or email to prepare for community activities and events.
    • Complete an Ambassador Program Activity Form to provide feedback and record attendance from activities & events.
    • Commit to reviewing emails regarding quarterly communication updates.
    • Attend a minimum of one community event or activity per month for one year as needed.
    • Ability to pick-up and drop-off supplies, from the Food Bank office, for participation in community activities & events.
    • Have own vehicle and ability to travel to community events and activities throughout Contra Costa & Solano Counties.
    • Agree to wear a Volunteer Ambassador shirt and name badge(provided by the Food Bank) during community events and activities.
    • Agree to show up on time and stay the entire duration of assigned activity of event, and reach out to Volunteer Services if you need to leave or cannot make it.

Ambassador Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older and passionate about the Food Bank’s Mission to lead the fight to end hunger.
  • Experience volunteering at a Food Bank warehouse and a Food Bank distribution in the past two years is required.
  • Ability to use an email account.
  • Able to work independently and/or with other Ambassador Program and Food Bank staff members.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Responsible and committed.
  • Comfortable interacting with members of the public.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Agree to adhere to Volunteer Waiver, Policies, Safety Rules, Agreements, and Code of Conduct.
