About this Opportunity

Description: Green Glass Green is an initiative started by truck drivers in Hong Kong who witnessed first-hand the vast amount of glass being wasted and dumped at landfills. Since launching their conservation efforts in 2010, they have been helping to promote greener living in Hong Kong by empowering people to reduce and reuse as well as actively collecting glass bottles for recycling.

Volunteer roles:
Volunteers will help the Green Glass Green team run a glass recycling awareness booth to encourage residents of the Lei Tung Estate to recycle their glass items. Help is needed with setting up the booth, assisting with actual glass collection and addressing questions from residents.

Volunteer's feedback and reflection:
After participating in the recycling glass service, I learned a lot about recycling and am motivated to do more in my daily life. The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive, and many people were eager to learn more about sustainable recycling practices. This project was a rewarding experience that taught me the value of community service and the power of education in creating positive change. It exceeded my expectations, as I had assumed that most people would find recycling to be an inconvenient task. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see so many people interested in learning about the benefits of recycling.
